3D
designs have been our obsession for years and so we’re constantly on the lookout for ideas that are advancing the industry. So what ideas are killing it? Well, we found five with a touch of big data tools and balanced subjectivity, then weighed undeniable usefulness and flat-out impressive application of 3D printing technology.

Smart gamer's remix of an iPhone 6 case goes viral. The design went from concept to distribution almost as fast as the overnight PokémonGo craze. Snap this over your iphone and you may be happy you did when you find a Bulbasaur in your cross hairs.

Last week we listed a sweet tourbillon and we feel the fine workings of this design are in the same league. This has been around since May and has been going sort of nuts ever since. Cool builds like these are the blocks that pave the way for more advanced creations, earning it's mention here as number 3. There is even a menacing remix with sharp teeth and probably several more ideas on the way.

A fantastic practical and functional find that reigns supreme simply because it pays dividends the more you use it. There are so many use cases for this versatile machine and it will only grow as it's remixed/customized. So great to see the feedback from the enabled makers all over the globe.

The ebbs and flows of the nascent 3D printing industry claimed it's latest victim recently with the shuttering of French startup leFabShop. A byproduct of the post-overvaluaton and fat-trimming of Makerbot, leFabShop became marginalized but managed to become truly incremental to the industry. Perhaps one of the most symbolic offerings is their elephant, a symbol of perseverance on many fronts, making it's way to last (but not least!) mention this week.
